Street Food City Returns to Vancouver With More Flavour Than Ever Before

It’s that time of year again when Dine Out Vancouver takes over the city’s restaurants and Street Food City returns to the Vancouver Art Gallery. Now in its fourth year, Street Food City has expanded to become a week-long event with more than 25 participating food trucks, 15 of which are on site every day from 11:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. on Monday to Thursday, and 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday and the Weekend.

The PNE Is Making Fair Food Fabulous

It’s that time of year again when we all flock to the Pacific National Exhibition. This year the PNE has packed in some amazing exhibits like the Game Of Thrones display, as well as some cool rides. But let’s face it, it’s really all about the food. The Fair has 71 food vendors this year with 20% new food options for us to enjoy, and those options are just as diverse as the food scene here in Vancouver. I was given a private tasting tour of some of this year’s hottest treats at the Fair. It’s a hard job, but I’m more than willing to donate my extra belt notches to share these yummy eats with you all.

A Toronto Foodie’s Highlights of Houston Food Park

To kick off the transition to Summer, I made a trip from Toronto to Houston for a weekend eating adventure and a hunt for great street food. Throughout the weekend, I saw a number of lone trucks parked in public parking lots, on streets and at the market, most of which sold authentic Mexican cuisine, but I was eager to check out one of Houston’s food truck parks near by my hotel.

Jon Favreau Gets It Right With Chef

First of all I should let you know that I am a bit biased here.

Not only do I love the subject of Jon Favreau’s latest movie Chef but I also adore the cast and every location that it is set in. Having spent the past four years as the host of Eat St. on Food Network Canada I have had the incredible pleasure of travelling to LA, Miami, Austin and New Orleans (to name a few) and meeting some of the top food truck chefs in North America. I have been at the front lines chronicling the food truck revolution and have witnessed it going from an urban trend to a red hot movement that has taken over the streets of virtually every city in North America. Food trucks are everywhere and Favreau totally captures every relevant aspect of why.

Vancouver’s Newest Hamburger Cart Delivers Big Flavour At A Little Price

Vancouver’s newest food cart is proving that you can get a delicious lunch for under $5, and it has people lining up all day to sample its delicious fare. Allow me to explain: A couple of weeks ago I walked past a new Japanese owned and operated food cart on Granville Street in the old Japadog spot. The nondescript cart didn’t catch my eye, but it’s signature menu items  immediately did. They were selling a classic beef burger for $2.85 or a cheeseburger for $3.50!!!!  Lots of people were walking by and looking in disbelief at the price but were not stopping. Well, word has since gotten out and when I went back today the line was 15 deep and featured everyone from suits to skaters.
